Notary Public Service
Notary Public Service means a service given by a public officer to attest the documents, verification of documents, signatures, affidavit, etc. In many states, the Notary Public Service is legally authorized and several institutions give their services. Notary Public Service is very important and it has many important impacts. The most important benefit is it prevents and helps to reduce fraudulent activities, recognize fake documents.
In Thailand, there are no public notaries. The government has not authorized or delegated the powers of notaries public to a specific body or institutions. In Thailand, some lawyers have given the authority that they can offer notary public services, lawyer councils regulate the practice of notarial services in the State. The lawyers who offer notary public service should go under special training.

The following institutions required the notary services;

3. Schools
4. Private Organizations
5: Foreign Embassies
6: Judiciary
In all these institutions the documents need to be attested, verified, witness, or affidavits. In Courts, the parties in a case i.e. plaintiff and defendant also need to submit the original attested admissible documents. The courts only accept the verified and attested documents. The authorized public officer also plays a role as a witness in the cases. The public officer helps the court to verify the documents and then record statements as witnesses that documents are original and admissible or not? are they acceptable before the court or not? etc.
The foreign embassies also require notary services and the documents should be verified and attested before submitting before the foreign embassies. The important thing to consider is Thailand is not a member of the Hague Convention on Legalization of Foreign Public Documents. If you are a foreigner and require notary public service then you should also attest, verify, etc your documents from the foreign embassies. They will also investigate the documents then attest and verify them.
